how to get sky tv into media centre
We want sky tv with movie chanells and mtv etc so i need to find a way to get it into mce.....

I do not want to use sky player as we have poor broadband speed due to location.

In the past i have used a sky box fed into the htpc via composite and controlled via the mce remote ir eyes but this is messy and i want a neat way to do things

Presnty we have 1 dvbs card (due to location we can only get tv via satallite) to give us freeview satalite, i would like to change the dish to dual lnb to drive the existing card plus a sky solution which enables me to use a sky card to watch the encryped chanells

any syggestions? I have read about HD Homerun but do not fully understand the concept

I think you can use something like the WinTV CI along with one of their tuner cards and in theory, it should descramble any satellite signal. No idea if it would work on Sky as they go above and beyond to make sure no 3rd party can access their channels.

One other problem would be an EPG though.

RE: how to get sky tv into media centre
thanks ill look into that, with wmc if you tell it you have an external sky box connected via composite it downloads the sky guide and the ir eyes control the box, only problem is picture being dropped to composite going into htpc then upscaled

I would rather ditch the sky box alltogether and keep it digital

RE: how to get sky tv into media centre
I think the easiest way is for a Dreambox (linux based STB), and DVBLink running on your PC. DVBLink then networks the Dreambox (with your Sky card in of course) to the PC as a normal tuner.

As for the EPG or channel data though?
