Q - Blackgold signal quality
Hi

I have a Freeview HD enabled TV and can watch all the HD and normal SD channels fine using my ariel. I live in Stoke but my ariel is pointed to a transmitter in the Midlands area so that is why I can see the HD stuff as Stoke does not get converted until Sept.

However during certain weather conditions my tele can see the channels with no breakup but my cheap Peak dual tuner in the MCE PC does break up, so I default to my DVB-S connections instead.

Now that BBC One HD has gone to DVB-S2 I can no longer get it and was looking at upgrading my freeview PCI-E card to the blackgold DVB-T2 dual tuner card.

My ultimate goal is to only have Freeview and no Sat cards but I wondered if anyone could give me an indication on how good the tuners are on the card.

My Samsung DVB-T2 tuner seems to be much better than my cheap Peak PCI-E DVB-T card but I don't want to shell out if the signal just breaks up all the time.

Neither the TV or PC card give me a signal strength bar so I have no idea how good the signal i am receiving is but the Samsung tele never breaks up.

Any info would be greatly received

Thanks

Mark

Hi and welcome to the site! Wave

Try DVBViewer to see your signal strength. My DVB-S Hauppauge cards show 100% but a Tevii card I tried recently only 80%, so cards do vary.

I think Blackgold are very reliable so would put my trust in them.

Thanks, I managed to find the signal strength on the Samsung tele 90% on most channels apart from 1 mux which is 40%.

I think I might get the televes HD ariel fitted to increase the signal strength.
