With Freeview you may have no OTA info whatsoever. But it does get 2 weeks worth of info at a time, so has your internet been down for long? (Godforbid! )The only solution I could think of is tethering via your mobile. Windows7 is very good at linking to mobiles and getting an internet connection going (although be aware that the guide can be in excess of 100Mb). While you're at it, you may also want to select 'No' at the bottom of this page as well

My mum and dad update their TV Guide this way until 7 came along with the freeview update and it seemed to only use 4-5Mb of data tethering their phone? |

Blimey, I didn't think that solution would score a hit!! I take it all back then, but I have seen the cogs whirring when downloading the guide and it's always seemed big to me. Perhaps I was just monitoring the initial setup with all 2weeks worth of data in. How do your folks find the OTA updates, good? elootos - mediacenterhouse.com This forum has no strict rules, just those I make up as I go along! |

RE: No TV guide with no internet?
I'm bumping this post as i am having more trouble with updating my guide.
Has anyone else had issues? I have noticed the newer update has an information bubble in the taskbar which is super, but mine keeps saying it's failed. i can't find a log of why or what has happened, internet works fine... i can download anything normally. Any ideas? is there a way of checking the log to see what the issue is? i'm on Windows 7 and Media center has a DELL logo on it (is it cursed?) :) Cheers |
