MythTV
Been looking at MythTv (mainly to use it in a project I have become involved in), so does anyone have any key tips or advice to give (other than avoid it in the first place!).
So far it just has to function as a DVB-S box and the rest of its functions will be determined as time goes by. It seems it does everything I need it to do, just with a lot more tinkering than Windows. elootos - mediacenterhouse.com This forum has no strict rules, just those I make up as I go along! |

I tried myth, couldn't get past the right drivers. I should have put more effort into it, especially seeing some of the advance features you can get with slim clients. So whats this project? As for the project, well I can't really say, but it is for commercial purposes so is upping the bar in terms of reliability and ease of use. elootos - mediacenterhouse.com This forum has no strict rules, just those I make up as I go along! |

Linux proved to be a bit of a pain; having to rebuild the kernel with drivers in it for hardware support. All good except if it updates itself and writes over the drivers. I'm looking at Windows Embedded; looks like theres loads of options so we'll see how it goes. elootos - mediacenterhouse.com This forum has no strict rules, just those I make up as I go along! |

RE: MythTV
Just tried MythTV again as I couldn't remember exactly what dissapointed me about it; picture quality! Couldn't get any renderers working so just got stock picture quality which is a bit ropey. Note to self: MythTV tried and rejected.
