My Movies 4 for Windows Media Center

Hello ***********

Introduction

We are happy to announce that "My Movies 4 for Windows Media Center" today has been made available in a pre release version. This newsletter will focus on the features of this particular application; however in the bottom of the letter you can read the latest news about our mobile applications and status on "My Movies for Windows Home Server". You can find more information about "My Movies 4 for Windows Media Center", including a screenshot gallery and download information here.

The pre release version is only available for users of our system that has 2,500 or more points. By getting the points within the running period of the pre release, you can join in at any time. Trail points are not included. The final release will be available for all users, with some features that require points.

Details

This new version of My Movies for Windows Media Center comes with an extensive support for TV series both in Collection Management and Windows Media Center, and support for customizing of the menu strips in Windows Media Center.

The TV series support includes the possibility to import your TV folders from your computer or local storage, or to let the automatic folder monitoring do the job in the background. When TV series are imported you get information about all the episodes in the series, with a clear marking of which episodes you own, and which are missing in your collection. You also get banners, posters and backdrops for the series and seasons, and images for the individual episodes.

In Windows Media Center you can see all your series in the views that fits you best, and for each series you can see the seasons and episodes of the series that are registered in your system. The search functionality has been expanded to also include searching for TV series, and a new icon has been introduced that lets you know what episodes that have been watched, making it much easier to figure out which episode to see next. The watched icon has also been added to your movies.

The customizable menu strips in Windows Media Center lets you decide if you want two strips for respectively Movies and TV Series, or if you want to combine them, and you can also choose which items that should be available in the menu strips.

Lastly you got the possibility to combine the views of your movies and TV Series into one view called "Media library", which let you see you movies and TV Series combined in one view.

As this is a pre release some functionality might change, and new functionality can be added before the final release of "My Movies 4 for Windows Media Center". The final release will be made available when we are satisfied with the implemented functionality, and the pre release has been thoroughly tested. We hope that this will be within the first week of April.

My Movies for iPhone, My Movies for iPad and My Movies for Android

For the users of our mobile device software, we would like to give you some details about what is coming on the various platforms. The mobile teams are hard at work to make these applications better and contain more features.

My Movies for Android have been updated with a lot of added functionality recently, and the next update on that platform will be with Windows Media Center remote control functionality. Expect this release soon.

It has been a while since My Movies for iPhone and My Movies for iPad have been updated - this also means that a lot of functionalities are coming for the two. My Movies for iPhone do not currently have the Windows Media Center remote control that the iPad version has, however this is being added with the next version.

Both the iPhone and iPad software will get new remote control ability for users of HDI Dune media players, including a full remote control, and the option to start playback of your titles from the mobile devices.

On iPhone and iPad, we are also adding "Personal Data" functionality, meaning that you get fields for notes, tags, purchase details, the option to personalize titles and sort titles and much more. And, then we are working on Facebook integration on these platforms as well, letting you post about additions to your collection, about titles you watched or just post information about a title you like.

My Movies for Windows Home Server

Users of My Movies for Windows Home Server are likely wondering about what the progress is on this platform, in a time where Windows Home Server 2011 was released in a Release Candidate.

We have actually been working a long time on a Windows Home Server 2011 release prior to the Release Candidate, at the time where the drive extender was available - in the same week where the drive extender was removed from Windows Home Server 2011, and HP announced that they would not be selling Windows Home Server 2011 devices, we decided to halt our resource usage on the platform until it was clear if it was reliable that a useable product would ever reach the users.

With the Release Candidate, Microsoft have moved close enough to a final product for us to believe in it being wise to use the resources needed for it. At the time the release candidate was made available, we however moved all the resources to the My Movies 4 for Windows Media Center release.

This means that we are going to release My Movies for Windows Home Server 2011 once we again have the resources to make the changes needed after the removal of the drive extender. At the same time, we plan on extending both this version and the version for the original Windows Home Server product to include the TV series monitoring functionalities added by My Movies 4 for Windows Media Center.

Finally

If you have any inputs, requests or just need to have some questions answered, we hope to see you on our forums. Also be sure to become a fan of My Movies on Facebook to be kept up to date with all the details of our products before anyone else.

Having just bought a much reduced iPad, I really like the iPad app, it allows the movie to be controlled much quicker than ir! Playback can be started remotely.

RE: My movies 4
Ohh yea I'm dragging up the whole 'my movies is better than everything else' argument, but I couldn't help myself because there has just been an update on my movies iphone app.
There is some minor tweeks to it, like putting in personal data and so on, but there has been an augmentation of the remote play.
Previously you could connect to a pc or server or extender and you could choose to play the film through the chosen machine.
Now you can also control all the remote functions of your film. (play, stop, fwd, rev so on and on)
Its made such a difference to the viewing.
I just wish I had an Ipad, it would be so swish and cool.
