Media centre remote
I've been looking for a remote for the htpc but finding all the ones I can see to be mediocre.
Basically I'm looking for an rf remote that has the ability to do something extra other than just forward or backwards.
I liked the gyration remote but Im unsure of the quality factor considering elootos recent problems with it.
If anyone knows of something special that's not going to cost more than £100 then please post it here.

RE: Media centre remote
Yeah, I need a new remote for certain. Bit dissapointed with my Gyration remotes. They are both fine, except for the down button... Angry

RE: Media centre remote
I'm unsure if this is relevant to your cause, but it seems to be a current problem with remotes.
Are they not supporting because there is a new remote about to be launched?

Good link! Sounds like Gyration are being a bit ignorant with updates and good to be forwarned of their lack of support. However my remotes function perfectly with windows7, always have done. The issue of my down buttons is definately hardware related as the remote's light doesnt glow when you push it.

Real shame that the hardware and now their software is lacking, they make great remotes.

What kind of 'extra' things are you looking to be able to do?

There don't seem to be a whole heap of options RF wise . . . I looked a while ago for an RF remote for use in our bathroom and didn't find much in the way of 'exciting' innovative features . . . but as I only need basic Media Center control, I was happy to settle for one of these. For me I'm hoping it'll be fine because it's relatively cheap so if I drop it in the bath, I've not lost all that much! Wink

I've not actually used this yet so can't comment on it's use. . . it's sat in a cupboard waiting for me to finish renovating the bathroom and get the Media Center all connected up . . . getting there slowly but surely! Wink

I think Northan's probably got himself sorted by now, however for my control I've finally gone down the app route for my phone and the first app I'm currently using is bloody brilliant! I might look into others to see what's happening but for now the one I have works a charm. Plus the mouse control is sublime; turns your capacitive touchscreen phone into a true touchpad for your PC. Ace!

However I do think that the RF Empress remote you mention and also here by Zac is probably going to be the best bet.
