Lights out
The next cool add in I find great is this Lights out
(note: scroll down half way to find english part) Yes you have to pay for it if you want the full version, but it does give you a 30 day trial, after that you have to pay for all the features, or continue with a free community edition. It's quite reasonable as far as cost go (considering the money you could save through electricity) ![]() So whats cool? It can monitor all your sources, lan, wan, cpu load, hard drive activity and clients. (note: depends if you have the full version for some features). If it senses any of the above activity, the server stays on, otherwise it can shut down when not needed. ![]() So many ways to configure how you want the server to wake and sleep. If you want to overide, or have instant access to wake or sleep from a client, you can do so with the aid of a piece of software on your computer to take control. ![]() A nice graphic reprensentation of the 'up time', meaning you can see when the server has been on, what it was doing and who it was doing it with. ![]() Power saving shows you what you saved and the running cost of your server. Easily configured by what your servers running wattage, standby wattage and the cost of an electricity unit you pay for. Believe me its surprising what it mounts too. I would also say that there is a little configuring to settle and its recomended that you read the instructions fully. (or like me being a typical man, don't read them, then scratch your head and wonder why you can't get it to work )Have a go, save the planet little bit at a time "Do or do not. There is no try." RE: Lights out
Blimey, you're going great guns with WHS and the Add Ins!
This Lights Out looks pretty neat, I may also have to give the trial a go and see if my Eco conscience makes me keep it. elootos - mediacenterhouse.com This forum has no strict rules, just those I make up as I go along! |

RE: Lights out
Just a quick query. Is anyone using Lights out with autoexit?
The reason I ask is I think I'm getting a few conflicts between the programs. Lights out seems to be stuffing up the server throwing all sorts of errors up. I'll have to look into a little more and report back. "Do or do not. There is no try." Yoda |

I'm not certain, but I think Autoexit (that I rate so highly) could have been the cause of my bad server. My thinking is that my reinstall since Sunday is currently running spot on, yet the only real difference (in software) is not installing Autoexit. I'd hate to think it is the case, but try unstalling Autoexit and let us know what happens. elootos - mediacenterhouse.com This forum has no strict rules, just those I make up as I go along! |

RE: Lights out
And there I was taking the blame for my recomandation.
I have loaded autoexit on its own with no problems as yet, but i've not really tapped into its full use yet. Keep you updated. "Do or do not. There is no try." Yoda |

RE: Lights out
A few revisions to the original post.
I now have it fully working with no flaws, works every time. Also it should be noted that ip clients can also be included. I.e Xbox, ps3, squeezebox etc etc. "Do or do not. There is no try." Yoda |

It does negate the use of AutoExit though as control of the other client PCs can equally be controlled in LightsOut. At this rate I'll finally be nearing the end of my home network, just in time for the Windows 8 and WHS Vail betas

At this rate I'll finally be nearing the end of my home network, just in time for the Windows 8 and WHS Vail betas ![]() I say - your never finished. ![]() Mind you as far as fully intergrated and networked house you can't be far off. Have you networked the fridge yet?. I'll stop when that order's & pays for it's own food - and won't deliberately 'forget' to buy the beer. ![]() ![]() Ps- Cat 6 is ran for it... honestly.
