Hauppauge WLAN PCTV System - Coming Soon !
As an Account Manager for Vodafone, one of my accounts is Hauppage. Now I asked Steve about a couple of options for Freesat, and have decided upon another HVR4000 for the media pc in the bedroom which will replace the ancient Digisenders that don't like running with the routers switched on !.
Anyway, I asked if there was any other products that can do what I'm looking for as these things are over £120 new. He came back with this... The HVR-4000 will do what you are looking for, no issues. It’s not a cheap board by any means and to be honest I don’t really know how it would compare price wise to a digisender but it’s a great seller for us with good reviews. Stock is thin on the ground at the moment mainly due to the fact that we’ll be changing the cards away from PCI and over to PCIe. Even the backlog may not get fulfilled so happy hunting tonight. As for your network options, we’ll soon be launching a Wireless LAN product (via our PCTV Systems brand) which will wirelessly send your TV signal to another PC in the house. Might be an option at some point. Now I quite like this idea if I put another pc in the kitchen which will become the server but also run to another LCDtv. I wouldn't mind getting a card reader with software to use the Sky card and run Sky HD via the pc, which can then of course be sent to another pc in the house. Obviously Sky would prefer us not to do this, but could be an option. |

Damn, I'm going mad. I could have sworn I replied to this earlier today already
![]() Anyway! That card sounds interesting. It'll be good to see how it actually works and whether it will rely on Hauppauges own software, which to be honest, has always been a bit dire - not exactly 10' friendly. Let us know if you hear any more about it. elootos - mediacenterhouse.com This forum has no strict rules, just those I make up as I go along! |

It's a shame their software developers don't bother with a test environment to be honest as it's poor. I didn't use their WinTv program to be fair, so had to rely on their rather flaky drivers to get the HVR4000 up and running via Win 7. Thankfully, all seems well. No idea about timescales, so it nothing is release by early summer I'll bug him for an update. |

I use to rely on WinTV back at Uni with my aged (can't-remember-model-number) card. Worked ok but that was in the days of a PII 400, 128Mb RAM and 8Gb HDD. hmmmm.... Teletext worked though elootos - mediacenterhouse.com This forum has no strict rules, just those I make up as I go along! |
