HDMI Baulans
Hi there,

I was looking at usingsome of the same type of baulans as you have, but just ha a quick question.

Are they able to transmit audio as well? Then I was thinking I would only need one cable from my pc - as the graphics card should be able to send audio over the hdmi as well.

Thanks

Olly

They transmit the HDMI signal complete, so audio and video.

All they're doing is extending the HDMI signal, so what goes in, comes out the other end.

RE: HDMI Baulans
Ok one final question (I hope) on the subject

In Dunks517 install it appears he has used a patch panel to link things together. I ws just wondering if this is ok for the baluns - i.e. no loss of signl quailty with multiple connections.

I suppose it is no different to network cables which are uneffected by a few connections ??

Many thanks and sorry for all the questions.

Olly

They should work however quality varies between makes, your pc may have a bit of a headache with the HDCP handshake or may experience problems recognising the screen at the other end. Keene now do a balun that requires on 1 run of Cat5e/6 cable.

RE: HDMI Baulans
Hello Dunks

I bought a pair of baluns from here and use them to send Sky HD upto our bedroom. Only thing is, every now & again the screen goes blank then the picture re appears. It's not the tv as i have my ps3 connected & that works fine.

I think it loses the HDID handshake/connection (if that makes sense). I was wondering if you have ever had this problem?

Thanks

Ben

RE: HDMI Baulans
Can whoever has one of these help me out a bit with my scenario.

With these HDMI Baulans, I presume it won't work correctly as the HDMI socket from the Sky HD box is already used with the tv. Do I need to get an HDMI splitter for these ? I can't see a great picture of these on the website, so I can see on the transmitter box it has a HDMI input, but where would I output this from the Sky box as it's already in use ?

I understand the concept of this where if the Sky box is not in the room you wish to view, these are great, but I don't think it will do what I'm looking to do.

Also, I believe you connect via the CAT 5 / networking cable from one end to the other, then the HDMI cable from the Baulan upstairs to the tv ?

Therefore, the way I see it is that I would need two of these Baulans, some network cable to link them from downstairs to upstairs tv and another HDMI cable.

I've tried the 5.4Ghz Digisender, and the signal isn't great. A bit of interference and have to carefully place the plug end of the device and a nightmare as the cable from the mains plug to the scart plug is not very long.
