Full House multipul media center install
Ninja Media center 1 (location : basement)
Dual analogue and digital tuners also freesat tunner
hdmi split for living room tv and kitchen tv cloned screens, (so walking between rooms for drinks and such you can still watch tv)

Use a usb extender 5m to usb hub for blueray drive, infra red control reciver, multi card reader,

Hdmi picture and audio sent through a 1x4 splitter (had it lying round) then also sent through hdmi over cat6 adapters running on 2 x cat6 cable to living room led tv and kitchen led tv

Ninja Media center 2 (location : basement)
Dual analogue and digital tuners and freesat tuner
hdmi sent on 20meter run via hdmi over cat6 adapters to garage office
only way i can figure to control this as i cant get usb to the garage is proberbly by remote assistance

Ninja Media center 3 ( location : loft )
Dual analogue and digital tuner
hdmi split to two led tvs 1 in loft room and 1 in bedroom hdmi to bedroom run over cat6
Use a usb extender 5m to usb hub for blueray drive, infra red control reciver, multi card reader,
I also plan to run cat 6 to every room for data aswell as security cameras linked into media center.

All networking will be run back to the basement which i plan to have a gigabyte switch and router to make full potential of my cat6 cableing, all media centers will have ssd hard drives for speed and all linked to my hp homeserver feeding them all content.

Few things im unsure off
Can i use remote assistance to control media center from the garage.? I also considered using a iphone as a wifi remote, i use blackberry now so its just sat around (expensive remote but cool ) ?

Im looking to spend around 200 pound for each media center box but the ones in the basement will be running in a server box so size isn’t a issue, the loft one needs to be small. Any part suggestions would be good?
Can i have multiple infrared recivers for windows media center remote also which remotes / receivers would you suggest?

Recommendations for gigabyte router and big hub and cars for the machines too would be nice?

Also rather than seperate media center for garage should i just run the garage as a extender? using xbox ?
any help will be very gratefully appreciated and i will also do a gallery of the install uploading as i go i have about 2 weeks to complete this

RE: Full House multipul media center install
Hello and welcome to the site Wave

I see you have your work cut out for your project!

You say there's a 2 week deadline, out of curiosity, why the rush?

Network-wise, don't get too hung up on CAT6 etc, Cat5e is still just as good cable and will be long into the future. Any old branded Gb hub will do the job as well I'd say. And the onboard Gb connections on most mobos are also just as up to the job. If not, buying one for about £10 should suffice.

One question though:

Why are you bothering with analogue tuners? My area switched off this week and I'm sure yours must be around the corner, if not happened already.

RE: Full House multipul media center install
hey thanks for the responce, ive got the 2 week deadline as i have a wife winging at me cos of wires here and there and holes in the walls that need to be hidden.

Shes very moody Tongue

and only reason im having analogue tuners is, there not too much more expensive and im planning on keeping my skys coax channel, which transmits via analogue.

Also i dont have ip cameras for my home i have the ones on BNC leads and the only way i have figured out is to try and use a RF modulator in the loft and pick them up as a channel to view them on my media center

I used cat6 cable as its only £88 for 305meters in a shop near me, so its quite good price and should "future proof" this project abit more :)

willl be updating with photos tommorow (alot of wiring to do Tongue)

Ah, makes a bit more sense; pressure from the other half!

You mention a recommendation for which media centers to use, I think the Intel Atom based units are supposed to be very good. A few members on here have the Acer ones.

Looking around, you can get this Revo R3700 for only £185 from Ebuyer. It's pushing the limits of full HD playback, but should cope with everything else admirably.

Perhaps cheap enough to get you through the first 12 - 18 months and know where to take your system.

As for IR receivers, ebay for a Media Center remote and £15 should get you an HP model. I think more than one receiver will work fine.

And for remote control, Teamviewer gets the biggest thumbs up for PC maintenance, but for media control, there are loads of ways to do it through an iOS device (just ask Dunks!).

Have you tried to post again, and if so, are you still getting any 404 errors?!?

Haven't come across any forum errors myself, but would be good to locate any that any users are getting.
