Editing / Splitting AVI files
Ok, feel free to flame me. I bring it on myself sometimes.
I have around 530 AVI's downloaded from You Tube mainly of music videos and some in HD. As we have been playing them tonight, the missus asked if I had any Christmas Music videos, to which I replied 'No'. So, I had a nosey on You Tube and not many on there, and the ones on there have been there for years and really crap quality so not worth a download. So bright spark here had the idea of recording 'Bliss' this evening as it's showing Christmas music videos. I have set the Media PC to record up until midnight and there is segments by McFly and ad breaks of course, so what I want to do it ediit the big AVI file that has been saved by Win 7 (didn't use WMC7 due to the file type). Therefore, what is the best bit of software (free on this occasion) to allow me to split the AVI's to make individual music videos ? ![]() Cheers, Tony |

RE: Editing / Splitting AVI files
Ive never really been into movie editing, and the only occasion I do I tend to use windows movie maker (free)
It seems to be simple enough to use, although I'm never sure how good it is seeing Ive not compared it with anything. "Do or do not. There is no try." Yoda |

RE: Editing / Splitting AVI files
hmmm, well the problem with. wtv files from media center is theyre kinda copy protected so not recognised in most video edit software. You can use Graphedit to convert them into normal AVIs which can then be edited in some free video edit software. I did come across something recently for editing videos that was free so I'll have to try and recall what it was...

RE: Editing / Splitting AVI files
Thanks to you both.
I remembered that the format in WMC7 won't allow editing the WTV files, etc as it's not an AVI, so I downloaded Windows Movie Maker and although not a fantastic bit of software, for basic editing for me seemed to do the job. I used WinTV in conjunction with the HVR4000 card and saved the recorded file as a WMV which can be easily edited and then saved as an AVI. Frustrating that a couple of the tracks seem to have the audio out of sync but binned those. Having faffed about with WinTV and WMC7 for some reason it's not letting me view HD channels. The sound is there, but no picture in WinTV and in WMC7, the picture is SD format. So looks like I've uncovered a new problem. Ugh ! I first noticed this the other week after swinging the dish around to Astra 1 @ 19.2º for the boxing and although finding the HD version of Das Erste it wouldn't view in HD even though it's FTA. It may be something to do with codecs and really haven't got the time to check or re-install. I must get a third cable and get it in the bedroom and move the tv card to the media pc upstairs for Freesat. |
