DVD Fab 7 on Win 7 accessed via Remote Desktop
Hey all !
With my tinkering about, I've decided to use the server pc under the stairs to burn DVD's. However, it does not have a keyboard, mouse or monitor attached to it. When I need to do something on there I access it remotely via the Remote Desktop action which works brilliantly when installing software, moving files about etc. However, I'm having issues using DVDFab 7 on there as when I select the dvd drive it doesn't load the dvd up. Am I missing something, or do you think this is a limitation of Remote Desktop ? I also use Team Viewer to help my mum & brother out, so may give this a go and see what happens. |

Sorry Tony, sounds like an advanced question for the boards of DVD fab.
I posted a question there once and was surprised at how quick I got several replies. There very knowledgeable If you get any info let us know dude "Do or do not. There is no try." Yoda |

RE: DVD Fab 7 on Win 7 accessed via Remote Desktop
What happens when you do actually control the server directly? Is DVDFab working correctly then?
Remote Desktop should function normally, I've installed drivers off cd via RD on mine in the past. elootos - mediacenterhouse.com This forum has no strict rules, just those I make up as I go along! |

RE: DVD Fab 7 on Win 7 accessed via Remote Desktop
Yeah, bit confused by the old RD to be fair. I like you Elootos have popped cd's in there and installed programs etc absolutely fine.
However, with DVD Fab, it simply spits it's dummy out. I tried again last night, and doesn't recognise the DVD drive. So when I click on "D" usually you get the blue banner going across whilst reading the DVD, but I get none of that and reverts to removing the DVD drive. So I installed Team Viewer on the server and accessed it via the laptop and works like a charm. Still smack myself around the face as Team Viewer is FOC, but I'd be quite happy to pay a few quid a year for it if need be as I've been really impressed with it so far, espec when I can now remotely assist both my brother and mum's pc's. So problem solved. I may post over on the DVD Fab forums regarding remote access and see what that turns up. Cheers, Tony UPDATE - well having had a look around the DVD Fab forums, and a search on 'Remote Desktop' my prayers have been answered. It's all about opening up as an administrator. Frustrating as that's what I am on both machines, so will give it a go tonight. So if anyone else has an issue like me... http://forum.dvdfab.com/showthread.php?t...te+desktop |
