Anyone using any kind of USB/IP cameras for CCTV monitoring and/or software?

Got my car broken into for the second time in 12 months and I'm now determined to catch the bastards next time Angry

i used my linksys WVC54GC camera....sit inside my house.....but was pointing outwards.....donest have night vision but security light outside lights up on motion detection anyway. on motion detection camera send email snapshot image as well as FTP video to my WHS !.....and i caught the buggers too....and gave the video to the police as evidence.....they was impressed with it and prosecuted the plebs !

RE: CCTV
Do what I do, have a piece of shitty metal that you can loosely call a car parked in your driveway. Somehow the buggers never seem to be interested in it.
However does not mean I wouldn't be interested in it.
I did look into standard web cams over extended usb. There is some software that captures any movement within it's periphal on your whs.

Let us know how it works out for you.

RE: CCTV
i had a setup when it detected motion detection it would send email to my work email....with a short video clip of kids tryin to break into my house......so then i connected to my webcams live stream over from work and called the police as i watched kids tryin to break in.....i then saw the police arrive in minutes jumpin over my fence but kids were gone but the police tracked em down with my video evidence.

Seems like more often than not, it's coming in handy for those who have it!

Time to go shopping...

Did you purchase?

We recently had a 'visitor' at 3:30am and got me thinking about CCTV too . . . I want an IP camera as I've already got some nice software that can control one . . .

My dad had a Compro (one of these I think) but quite frankly, there's no nice way of putting it, but it was shit. Instructions written in terrible 'Chinglish' and we never really got it to reliably 'serve' images. It's now sat in a cupboard waiting to meet it's maker . . .

I'm tempted to give something like this a whirl . . . but there's always the risk that it'll be another cheapo piece of s*&%

Any thoughts?
