Budget I R Reciever
I am looking to have yet another media center pc in my house, and i already own a Harmony 525 remote, that can imitate other remotes,
I'm worried that if i buy another Media center receiver then the harmony will control them both at once, i'm looking at some cheap options on ebay, is this worth it, or is there a better way of doing this? |

RE: Budget I R Reciever
I have the same problem at the moment as I have keen ir running over the house and I want to be able to control everything independently. Avoid the Cyberlink remote as it never wakes the pc its connected to.
Can anyone confirm if any of the remotes on Amazon dont control the standard mce reciever? http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_noss..._356&fsc=8 The Compro K300 seems to have all the needed buttons to map to a Harmony. Being a bit thick today! I have a Harmony One so I just loaded up the Compro 300 to my remote and confirm it does indeed control the MS reciever. I`ll try a few more, Ali if you have your eye on any I can test let me know - that ebay one isnt in the data base that I can find. Result uploaded and tested the Speedlink SL-6399-SBK http://www.amazon.co.uk/Speedlink-SL-639...84&sr=1-11 Tested all the buttons - no interference at all. Gonna order one for myself. |

Took me a while to realise what the goal was; to have 2 independant remotes controlling Media Centers that don't interfere with each other. Nice one. elootos - mediacenterhouse.com This forum has no strict rules, just those I make up as I go along! |

RE: Budget I R Reciever
Well it is for me as at present I have my htpc and samsung tv in the living room area and a revo and samsung screen next to my bed. I got around the samsung tv problem by using two inteliplugs set up on two old remotes, so the only the tv I want comes on. With the revo and the htpc I wont to be able to control both without cross talk.
In the end I want include the google tv box and control the whole system via my ipod. Ali if you want me to test some remotes just get the make and model number and I`ll load them up from the logitech database. (525 is one of the learning ones that doesnt use the data base isnt it)? |

RE: Budget I R Reciever
Yea thats the problem I dont think you can buy the reciever on its own. TBH I only need the reciever if you can get hold of another reciever for the remote I`ve purchased I can loan you the handset to learn the codes.
Well the remote turned up today - it has a mini mce type reciever. All works ok apart from the power button. It wakes the pc from sleep fine. But when you hit the power button is closes media center and leaves you at the desktop with the classic windows shut down, restart, sleep drop box. Ahhhhhh! Why did they never produce the MS remote with a choice of channels? Back it goes and I`ll try and test some more. |
