I've got three Linksys 2100 extenders which run the three TV's. The Media PC itself lives in the loft as a headless server.

Some minor drawbacks (not all plugins work on Extenders - TunerFreeMCE only works with non-Flash feeds) but not a real problem on a daily basis. Extenders are silent and solid-state, which makes them kid-proof and unobtrusive (High Wife Acceptance Factor!).

Sadly, I think they're dead or dying. I have some hope that Microsoft have something coming with their 'three screens' approach (PC, Mobile, TV). They've shown Windows 7 and Mobile 7 as two of the three screens - and I suspect that they may be heading in the direction of TV's with integrated streaming technology.

Nice one, I'm looking at an SSD for the lounge media pc, but will wait a bit longer and keep my eye on the prices of them. Good to hear that the overall response time has dropped.

Yeah looking forward to this myself.

Apparently you can use this on more than one pc, but can only watch live on one pc, so may use that for the media pc in the bedroom. My BB connection is only 1.5Mbps so streaming will be poor, but downloading content overnight should help.

Also helping me out was obtaining a Family Pack edition of W7 Prem giving one licence to install on up to three pc's, so it's on the 2x media pc's and the lappy.

What's more I paid for it (shock) Uncle Bill will be pleased
