The slot DVD drive in my lounge died over Christmas (probably all the dust generated from the fireplace rebuild (photos to follow soon)), which made access to the drives in the loft rather problematic, especially as the holidays is a great time to be playing the games I have on the PC. So being a fan of Slysoft’s AnyDVDHD, I looked at their website recently and decided to also try their Gamejackal software which emulates the DVD in the drive so that the game software runs without the presence of the actual disc. I can say that it saved my Christmas! I had a Logitech steering wheel as a present so rather than constantly running into the loft to change game discs, I simply just clicked on the Gamejackal desktop icon and voila, Test Drive Unlimited, DiRT & GRiD all at my finger tips…

As for the slot DVD, I have my eye on an Optiarc slot Blu-ray drive but I have to wait for it to drop in price slightly.
